April grew up in Jackson Heights, NY and attended Frank Sinatra School of the Arts as a theater major. Even though she had a passion for the stage, April played a key role on the basketball and softball teams. Her background in the arts lead her to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Sociology at SUNY Purchase College, where she was also a two sport student athlete.
April firmly believes that participation in athletics is life changing. "Athletics is a way for students to step out of their comfort zone, learn to work with a team, develop leadership skills, and build social capital." Her passion for athletics lead her to STEER, where she worked as the Front Office Student Support Administrator from 2017 - 2021.
April continued her career as a student throughout her time at STEER. She completed her Master's degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education from Long Island University in 2020. She currently holds a teaching certification in elementary education in the state of Connecticut.
April is currently working as a Guided Pathways Advisor at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT. She continues to provide students with mentorship, resources, and holistic support.
